## Providers in detail

### Sage

**Sage leads as AI, tax partnerships and results broaden coverage**

Sage ranked 1st of 7 by average monthly share of coverage (41.7%) in the UK Accounting & Business Software benchmark for 2026 year to date, with 292 mentions and a net tone of +41.

Sage led the provider cohort throughout the nine-month window, ranking first in every measured month and accounting for 42.1% of tracked-company mentions overall. Its average monthly share was 41.7%, also ranked first, while 292 mentions gave the company a substantial evidence base across financial, product, tax and channel reporting. Financial performance established an early strand through first-quarter organic revenue growth of 10% and returned prominently with raised full-year expectations in May and 11% nine-month revenue growth in July. Making Tax Digital formed a second sustained strand, including Sage-powered services with HSBC, SumUp and Barclays, followed by updates to Sage’s tools for accountants. AI coverage progressed from executive arguments about explainability and auditability to reports on Intacct agents, the Doyen AI acquisition, the PwC implementation partnership and expanded collaboration with AWS. The mix broadened in May as half-year results, product updates, tax-readiness tools and two senior appointments appeared together during Sage’s highest monthly share of 55.7%. June and July brought lower shares despite continued reporting on Intacct, small-business research, AI-skills partnerships and nine-month trading. August’s recovery to 51.6% coincided with the Yooz partnership, new Intacct financial controls and the Bangert acquisition, although much of the month’s financial reporting examined wider software-sector movements. September remained financial-led, while Period Review, bolt-on acquisitions and Steve Hare’s interventions on UK AI policy gave the coverage a wider corporate and policy dimension. Across the period, Sage’s visibility combined recurring results coverage with a developing account of embedded tax services, practical AI deployment and expansion through partners and acquisitions.

Dext ranked 5th of 7 by average monthly share of coverage (5.1%) in the UK Accounting & Business Software benchmark for 2026 year to date, with 37 mentions and a net tone of +62.

Dext ranked fifth by both pooled and average monthly share from January to September, recording 37 mentions and 5.3% of tracked-company mentions across the full window. Its average monthly share was 5.1%, reflecting a profile that combined strong product-led months with periods of limited visibility. January established an independent editorial platform around Dext research into errors caused by general-purpose AI, alongside reporting on accountants testing Dext Solo. February added the launch of Dext Payments, while March's 9.7% share was accompanied by the AI Assist launch, further AI research and scrutiny of Dext Solo's rental-statement charges. Coverage contracted sharply in April, when the sole article was Dext's contributed account of AI Assist use cases, before a limited May recovery that included contributed Accountex activity with IRIS. Dext recorded no measured mentions in June. July restored visibility through contributed sessions on purpose-built accounting AI and practical Making Tax Digital implementation. Although August's share eased to 4.7% and its rank improved to fourth, all three articles were contextual mentions within wider reporting on document capture, client use of AI and MTD software issues. September brought seven mentions and a return to fifth place, with independent reporting on Dext-backed research into bookkeepers' advisory work and Nicole Bello's appointment as chief revenue officer. The period therefore moved from an early concentration on AI risk and new products towards a broader September mix spanning the accountancy channel, leadership, MTD and automation.

Share fell to 3.1% in August while the company remained fifth; independent reporting focused on its guidance about MTD fines. September recovered to 5.9%, although FreeAgent ranked sixth, with independent articles covering automatic HMRC enrolment and landlord penalties alongside contributed material about Joiin connectivity. ## Methodology

- **Share of coverage**: an organisation's mentions divided by all mentions of the organisations tracked in the same sector that month, in UK earned media. It is the central measure of media visibility in Omniscan benchmarks. "Average monthly share" is the mean of the monthly shares across the reporting period.
- **Mention**: one article that covers an organisation, classified as positive, neutral or negative in tone. Articles are deduplicated, and an organisation's own websites and passing sponsorship name-checks are excluded, so only earned media counts.
- **Net tone**: positive mentions minus negative mentions, as a percentage of all mentions (range −100 to +100).
- **Themes**: every article is assigned to one of the sector's editorial themes. A theme index above 1 means the organisation is covered on that theme more than its peers are; below 1 means less.
- **Calculation**: every figure is computed directly from the classified articles; narrative summaries are checked against those figures.
- **Sources**: UK national and international, trade and specialist, regional and local, and aggregator and syndication earned media.
