## Providers in detail

### Computacenter

**US expansion and AI demand define Computacenter’s media lead**

Computacenter ranked 1st of 7 by average monthly share of coverage (34.7%) in the UK IT Services & Resellers benchmark for 2026 year to date, with 248 mentions and a net tone of +76.

Across January to September, Computacenter recorded 248 mentions and led the tracked companies overall. Its pooled share was 36.2% of tracked-company mentions, ranking first, while its average monthly share was 34.7%, also ranking first. The lead was not continuous: Computacenter ranked first in January, April and July to September, joint fourth in February, joint second in March and second in June, and third in May. January coverage combined the $120m AgreeYa acquisition with an upgraded 2025 profit expectation of at least £270m. March reporting developed the financial narrative through £9.2bn revenue, a £7.1bn committed product-order backlog and strong North American performance. April’s first-quarter update brought another outlook upgrade amid hyperscaler demand, UK AI projects and early hardware ordering. In May, the proposed acquisition of Government Acquisitions extended the US expansion into the federal market, while June brought Computacenter’s first promotion to the FTSE 100. July coverage intensified around an expectation that first-half adjusted pre-tax profit would approximately double, alongside a further full-year upgrade. August retained substantial volume but broadened into AI-infrastructure positioning, services mix, cash conversion and broker commentary. September delivered the largest monthly volume, as record first-half results, a £9.3bn order backlog and profit guidance of at least £380m reinforced the financial and AI-infrastructure account.

### Softcat

**Results momentum culminates in Softcat’s $1.05bn US expansion**

Softcat ranked 2nd of 7 by average monthly share of coverage (21.1%) in the UK IT Services & Resellers benchmark for 2026 year to date, with 157 mentions and a net tone of +60.

Softcat recorded 157 mentions and ranked second both by its 21.1% average monthly share and its 22.9% pooled share of tracked-company mentions. Visibility was initially limited: January contained a public-sector AI reference and a material market-value comparison with Computacenter, before February brought independent reporting of the £5.9m DWP security and anti-fraud contract alongside its inclusion in a technology-share sell-off linked to AI concerns. Softcat moved to first place in March as its strong first-half results, higher profit guidance and AI-infrastructure demand received extensive coverage. April broadened the account through the £79.4m Sellafield framework, Oakland’s £12m pipeline and 30 hires, three Check Point partner awards and Softcat’s expanded Glasgow office. The company returned to joint first place in May, when another profit-guidance increase and its programme to introduce EcoVadis ratings and net-zero targets across major suppliers provided distinct financial and sustainability developments. June’s smaller profile centred on Citi’s downgrade to neutral after the share-price rally, despite its higher price target and continued recognition of Softcat’s execution. July’s five articles were solely contextual mentions in wider reporting about FCA disclosure errors, AI procurement and technology stocks, rather than developments at Softcat. August restored a broader company profile, combining investor analysis of AI, cloud and cybersecurity exposure with the £120m Metropolitan Police primary-reseller contract and Deutsche Bank’s downgrade to hold. September then placed Softcat second as the proposed $1.05bn acquisition of GDT, supported by an equity raise, shifted the agenda decisively towards international expansion, AI infrastructure and deal financing. Across the period, the profile progressed from limited public-sector and market references to results-led prominence, wider operational evidence and, ultimately, a major strategic transaction.

Key messages:

- Softcat accounted for 22.9% of tracked-company mentions; its monthly rank was #1-#5 among 7.

Kainos placed third across January to September by both average monthly share, at 19.7%, and pooled share, at 18.5% of tracked-company mentions. Its competitive position was uneven, ranging from joint first place in May and first in June to joint fourth in March and fourth in July and September. January established a broad profile through the Home Office border-platform contract, Nick Venables’s appointment and Kainos’s curation of BelTech 2026. February’s share rose to 21.4% despite volume falling from four measured mentions to three, while March’s share dropped to 3.4% amid a much larger total of tracked-company mentions. The agenda broadened decisively in April, when raised FY26 revenue expectations, record backlog and the £24m DVSA extension accompanied a return to second place. Kainos then jointly led the tracked companies in May as FY26 results reported 17% revenue growth and record bookings, alongside the £150m Defra contract and plans to hire 200 graduates. It retained first place in June, when the 341-job Northern Ireland expansion became the dominant story and coverage also included adoption of its Pay Transparency Analyzer. July brought a sharp contraction to three measured mentions and fourth place, with reporting covering a shareholding transaction, continued investment in early-career engineers and a share-price comparison in a wider results article. August restored Kainos to second place as upgraded FY27 guidance, record bookings and backlog, and discussion of its digital-services and Workday businesses dominated the agenda. September volume was 26 measured mentions, while share fell to 12.4% and rank to fourth; total tracked-company mentions rose to 210. ### Bytes Technology

**Contracts, restructuring and stronger trading reshaped Bytes’ media profile**

Bytes Technology ranked 4th of 7 by average monthly share of coverage (16.4%) in the UK IT Services & Resellers benchmark for 2026 year to date, with 118 mentions and a net tone of +31.

From January to September, Bytes Technology recorded 118 mentions, representing 17.2% of tracked-company mentions, and ranked fourth on both pooled and average monthly share. Its 16.4% average monthly share was below the pooled figure, while monthly positions ranged from second to fifth. January’s second-place position coincided with extensive reporting of Phoenix Software’s £75m Ministry of Defence agreement and its financial growth. March brought a rise to 27.1% and joint second place alongside reporting on Jack Watson’s departure and an outlook for broadly flat FY2027 operating profit. The share then fell to 7.7% in April, when UBS’s downgrade provided the only Bytes-focused development among the available articles. May coverage returned to the annual results, including 11.5% growth in gross invoiced income, lower operating profit and a £25m share buyback. June’s two mentions appeared only in a wider Register analysis of Microsoft’s channel changes and were contextual rather than reports of a Bytes development. July reached 31.1% and second place as stories covered Gavin Rochussen’s appointment, Phoenix’s public-sector specialisation, stronger opening-month trading and further broker downgrades. August’s 15.7% share accompanied an article mix weighted towards AI, cloud and investment-market commentary, much of it from Kalkine Media, before September produced the highest monthly volume and reporting of upgraded guidance, chair succession and Phoenix’s £22m Ofgem contract. Across the window, the profile moved from public-sector contracts through financial and leadership scrutiny to a broader account of organisational realignment, services demand and improved first-half trading.

OneAdvanced ranked 5th of 7 by average monthly share of coverage (5.7%) in the UK IT Services & Resellers benchmark for 2026 year to date, with 22 mentions and a net tone of +86.

Across January to September, OneAdvanced recorded 22 mentions and 3.2% of tracked-company mentions, with coverage in eight of the nine measured months. It ranked fifth by both pooled share and average monthly share, although its 5.7% average monthly share was notably higher than its pooled result. The difference reflects equal monthly weighting in the average, while the pooled measure gave greater weight to the much larger tracked-company totals in August and September, when OneAdvanced’s shares were 1.7% and 1.0%. Visibility was strongest competitively in February, when three articles represented a 21.4% share and joint second place, before falling to sixth in March and disappearing in April. January’s agenda combined the Patchs Health acquisition with plans to connect OneAdvanced’s NHS Scotland platforms following the Vision acquisition. February broadened the profile through the OneAdvanced Education launch, an Apprenticeship Levy pledge for technology learning and discussion of cyber resilience. The May launch of IQ preceded a June concentration of reporting on platform updates and the NHS triage pilot with NVIDIA, when share reached 12.7% and third place. July extended the IQ proposition into logistics through the Clarus WMS partnership, while August paired the Cosine sovereign-AI agreement with scrutiny of glitches affecting the Vision 3 rollout in Scotland. September coverage returned fully to AI and digital services through IQ Chat and a meaningful reference to OneAdvanced’s existing role in the Lumen Sovereign UK coalition, although share was 1.0% amid a substantially larger tracked-company news pool. Taken together, the period moved from acquisition-led healthcare coverage towards a broader platform narrative spanning education, regulated-sector workflows, logistics and public-service applications.

### FDM Group

**Financial pressure defined FDM coverage before skills gained prominence**

FDM Group ranked 6th of 7 by average monthly share of coverage (1.4%) in the UK IT Services & Resellers benchmark for 2026 year to date, with 8 mentions and a net tone of −12.

FDM Group recorded eight mentions from January to September 2026, ranking sixth by both its 1.4% average monthly share and 1.2% pooled share of tracked-company mentions. January produced its highest share, with two articles and a 5.1% share, as Sharecast and BusinessCloud reported expected 2025 revenue of about £178m, down 31%, alongside signs of improving activity. Its best competitive rank came in March, when it was joint fourth with a 3.4% share. That month, Sharecast reported the annual results, including a 73% fall in pre-tax profit, fewer consultant assignments and modest improvement in client activity; Investors’ Chronicle also discussed demand for AI-enabled skills against continued uncertainty and client delays. April's sole reference appeared in a wider Investors' Chronicle review of broker forecasts, which noted that FDM's shares had fallen by about a third despite higher earnings estimates and demand for AI-enabled skills. After no coverage from May to July, Investors' Chronicle reported in August that first-half revenue had fallen 19% to £78.6m and pre-tax profit had declined 49% to £4.1m, with shares falling despite tentative signs of recovery. September brought two articles and shifted the subject mix towards people and skills: the Daily Express, carried via PressReader, presented an account of FDM's train-recruit-deploy model and investment in AI, cybersecurity and payments capabilities, while CNBC cited its agentic-engineering training in a wider report on AI and entry-level hiring. The available coverage therefore moved from repeated reporting on financial pressure and tentative recovery to a broader skills narrative at the end of the period, although the CNBC article mentioned FDM only in wider sector coverage.

## Methodology

- **Share of coverage**: an organisation's mentions divided by all mentions of the organisations tracked in the same sector that month, in UK earned media. It is the central measure of media visibility in Omniscan benchmarks. "Average monthly share" is the mean of the monthly shares across the reporting period.
- **Mention**: one article that covers an organisation, classified as positive, neutral or negative in tone. Articles are deduplicated, and an organisation's own websites and passing sponsorship name-checks are excluded, so only earned media counts.
- **Net tone**: positive mentions minus negative mentions, as a percentage of all mentions (range −100 to +100).
- **Themes**: every article is assigned to one of the sector's editorial themes. A theme index above 1 means the organisation is covered on that theme more than its peers are; below 1 means less.
- **Calculation**: every figure is computed directly from the classified articles; narrative summaries are checked against those figures.
- **Sources**: UK national and international, trade and specialist, regional and local, and aggregator and syndication earned media.
